Verified ReviewerBilling Issues and Poor customer service
My husband, with COPD & heart conditions, has been using oxygen since 7/2024. It has been difficult dealing with Apria.
You get transferred and have to wait to talk to someone who usually cant solve the problem. Friday afternoon, 10/4/2024 I called billing regarding my current bill which says This is the amount you owe $146.67. Please pay by 10/13/24. no Past Due Balance" Joan, in billing in the Oxnard office said I only owed $20.77.
She took my credit card information and said there was no outstanding balance left on the account and gave me a confirmation number. Then she said."oh an amount of $133.62 was sent for collection in September." I said, the bill I have in front of me includes the $133.62 and says it is due by 10/13/24. She had no explanation about the discrepancy. Im very unhappy that my account was sent to a collection agency.
Its my understanding that a client has to be notified before that occurs. I waited again to talk to a supervisor. Abraham B, who said he was a supervisor went on and on for another hour trying to explain how they could send a bill for an amount due several days hence and still have sent the
account to collection. He said he would pay the $133.62 with my credit
card that he had on file and that by Monday everything would be OK.
I said I wanted something in writing and he said he couldnt do that and he couldnt notify the Collection agency. I asked for the name of his supervisor and he said he couldnt give that out.

As I am in the Uk at the moment and didnt have my account number, !ve just spent more than 30 minutes spelling my name to a person hired by Apria who simply CAN'T tell difference between p and b, etc. Didint work!!!
Should I be nice and not mention that person IQ and her ability to do the work???
Plus, as I am not in the states, I could not reach Apria website !!!
Was not able to call Apria from any other phone but my US cell and it cost me a fortune!!!
What person of a very limited thought blocked access to the website from abroad??? Are we supposed, according to Apria, not to travel, visit friends, family, etc.???
User's recommendation: Keep away!!!
Representative was very kind and my order was placed with ease.
I love Apria Health Customer Service is really great and I will always recommend your company to my friends and family
User's recommendation: I will always use Apria for all of my CPAP needs.

They gave me a open window of March 21 for two hours to call me back. Someone called me and I was in the restroom before two hours. I missed the call I called back no one still hasnt answered and today is the 25th I have the oxygen tank and other merchandise that I want to return
Very surprised that both Kaiser and Apria are not doing a good job of helping patients here in the Central Valley.
I am on oxygen all the time! My doctor ordered an Inogen portable concentrator so it makes life easier!
I drove an hour to see the respiratory therapist and pick up the machine! I was approved and my doctor had submitted the order and now the Merry-Go-Round begins. One *** refusal each time and says the doctor did not fill things out correctly! Says he left out RX info (2).
Now I am dealing with Authorization issues! (3).
Doctor has resubmitted orders and what has been asked for but the ride continues! Perhaps our lives are not important to these people!
User's recommendation: Be your own advocate and if you are old they seem to care less so fight harder.
To inform people
Apria has traditionally had bad reviews. I went to get machine.
Although he had the RX from the Doctor on his computer, he tried to give me the wrong tubing and the wrong mask. Also, went home and found he had several WRONG settings on my machine. (Of course, they got corrected).
I wrote to Byram healthcare, who now owns Apria. Crickets.
No response.
The guy is licensed by NY State but he was careless and not professional. His license should be suspended but no one cares!
Also, they send you postcards to renew supplies, saying filters should be changed every two weeks. EVERY TWO WEEKS.
One would have to be using the machine in a coalmine to have to change every two weeks. I told the supervisor at Apria about this and she made excuses and of course changed nothing.
Try Community Health.
User's recommendation: Don't use Apria.
Fraudulent billing
I waited to get my machine for a year. I got my machine waited for them to help me.
I had no help. I just dropped the machine off at my door. I made an appointment to go in. I went there.
Theres nobody in the office. This was the Daytona office. There was a guy in the back when it was my appointment time he was like no she can wait longer so I left. we are a year in they have billed me for seven months.
I finally halted credit card payment and they want $283 in their machine. I told them theyve reached their contract. I want their accounting department to call me I want to place a dispute youre charging me for something that I did not use but yet youre sending people to my house constantly to pick up the machine. Long story short, they fortunately billed me.
They breached their contractors they gave me no services but yet they still charge me never reached out to me, but yet they can call me every day looking for $283 and when you call you get somebody overseas, nobody speaks English you barely understand them all I ask them zero my balance and I will gladly drop your machine off. They refuse to do that so now I will file with small claims over here in Volusia County courts. all I want is a zero balance thats it. .
But just think about that they charge me $70 a month and gave me no services I never used it And they charge my insurance company last year and tried to charge them again this year .
I dont think Im wrong here. They say well we still owe them on the machine well what about the 800 I paid for the machine and then the other 800 you build my insurance company for the machine and then try billing them again this year but I told my insurance company not to pay them.
User's recommendation: *** no
Avoid this company!!!! N
They WAY overcharged for supplies. They will not give you a statement of the cost for each item that they billed the insurance for.
They billed my insurance $1148.50 for my supplies. I found other sources online where I could purchase the very same things for less than $150!
They tell me thats the billed amount, thats not what you paid for it. I cant even get a statement from them showing what the insurance paid to check the amount they say I owe.
User's recommendation: Run!!!
I have never experienced such awful customer service.
My son needs a sleep Apnia Machine. Apria called me to get delivery set up.
They had wrong address, and no email, so I gave them correct info. The service rep was rude, and told me to sign email or they couldnt send machine. She gave me no other info. I believed it was set up.
Waited for email and it never came. I called back within 30 min and spent over a hour on phone for a representative. Then it sent me to voice message saying leave info and they will call me back within 2 hours. Never did.
Next day I call back. I got dropped off call 2 times after waiting over a hour. Got through and the representative said she had to check something. She never returned and the call got dropped again.
I've left 3 messages, and still no call back. If you have a need for medical equipment.. Avoid them. They don't answer, they don't care and you are literally at their mercy.
You could die before you get a call back. I'm still waiting and we are now headed into 3rd day.
User's recommendation: Do not use this company
Absolutely ridiculous customer “service “
What the actual *** with this company?!? They are they actual worst .
This is the second time where Ive had to pay someone to wait around all fn day for a technician to show up. And they dont even show up in the window they give I dont want to hear that your drivers are stressed. You chose to take a job at a supplemental oxygen company after *** Covid, you know the respiratory disease. Shouldve realized youd be busy if you cant *** it or do it they get a different job.
I was told so hed would be here between 10 and 3 , 6 hours apparently isnt enough. No one called me either this time ( or last ) which is inconsiderate enough that Im told *** be here by eight I work too you know my time and other customers time is important as well. The excuse I was giving was sometimes they get orders while theyre out *** , we all know thats a load , you know Im stressed too thanks to your lack of customer service and consideration. the last time was the same bleeping thing, you people are ridiculous.
I hate to complain, but I am rightfully pissed right now . As if that wasnt enough,Im also being threatened to take my equipment because you cant send the paper to my doctor correctly .
And hunting me down like Dog the bounty hunter for *** five dollars. Yall should be delivering pizzas not oxygen.
User's recommendation: Find a different company

Verified ReviewerCold Blooded billing tactics.
Apria is very cold blooded when it comes to caring for their customers when they are having issues with them. I was hospitalized for several months earlier this year, 2023.
During my time in medical care, I used a PaP machine supplied by the hospital so I did not need to use my home machine. Apria could not contact me to renew my supplies during that time. Somehow, someone at Apria assumed I was not using my own machine in compliance to the Medicare requirements and so they influenced my insurance company (a Medicare Advantage Plan) to conclude that I was not using my machine, anymore. Now, when I was discharged from the hospital and returned home and tried to re-order a new CPaP mask and other supplies for my machine, Apria refused me on the basis of saying I was not using my machine and, therefore, I was NON-COMPLIANT according to Medicare requirements.
This caused, in some way, my Medicare Advantage Plan to refuse to pay for any more CPaP supplies. When I contact my Plan and explained to them that I had been in the hospital using the hospital machine, this turned into a major issue that went on-and-on for over 6 weeks. Apria had made their decision that I was non-compliant during the time they could not reach me without ever looking at the data card from my machine or contacting my hospital which would have proved my compliance. I was confounded by the fact that my Plan had participated in this abuse of me since it was Clearly paying my hospital bills during my hospitalization.
Instead of defending me and disproving Apria's unprofessional and unethical decision on this compliance issue, my Plan was seeming to not be acting in my interests in order to charge me for the machine which I paid for early on when I paid my copay upon receiving it months and months earlier. I got my Pulmonary doctor to fax my Compliance Data from my machine to Apria and to my Plan to clearly document that I was using my machine except for the period I was using the hospital device. Suddenly, Apria abandon their issued about my compliance and, then, accuse me of having an outstanding bill of more than $900 for the machine. They refuse to admit that I owned my machine after paying my copay.
They refused to address those many previous months I was ordering and paying for re-supplies prior to my hospital stay. I called Apria many, many times during this dispute and each time I seemed to have to talk to a different Apria rep and have to re-explain my case over and over again. Each time, the reps were ignorant of the facts and seldom indicated to have even read the Notes in my account. One rep even told me that if I did not pay the outstanding balance on my account, her manage told her to tell me I should get my supplies from another company.
At no time did Apria acknowledge that I need supplies to successfully continue my CPaP treatment during those 6 weeks of turmoil with them. I told them my old mask was leaking and I was not sleeping well during all those many weeks but they never, ever seemed to care. None of them never even sympathized with me or said they wanted to work out my issue eventually but in the meantime, would send my supplies. Apria is all about trying to squeeze out money from me that I do not owe them.
Apria is COLD BLOODED and unprofessional.
They should not be in the business of medical care, at all. Not at all!
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered
User's recommendation: Avoid doing business with Apria!
The worst! Would leave negative stars if possible.
I dont know where to begin with the lack of caring and understanding with this company. Avoid them if you have ANY other options.
There are NO exceptions to their procedures for unplanned situations. They REFUSE to let a client talk to anyone other than the high school sounding girls that answer phones. Main office in Texas ( i think). Disconnected me.
All I am asking is to pick up my husbands equipment sooner than 3 days from now. Husband is coming home from facility to enter hospice. Hospice needs their equipment out of the room so they can put up theirs. They refuse any help to me and said no one but they can touch their equipment.
Im an older lady who lives alone. I have no help and Aprias got no heart or conscience.
User's recommendation: Stay far away. You will never get help or service if you need it. Cold, heartless companytaking advantage of those needing help.
